Medical School Admission Statistics

In any given year, some 300 Penn students and alumni apply for admission to medical school and are, in general, very successful in this endeavor. Medical school admission is extremely competitive and applicants are evaluated on far more than just MCAT and GPA, particularly knowledge, skills and attitudes which have been identified as fundamental for students' success in medical school and their future careers. Examples of such competencies include service orientation, communication skills, critical thinking, adaptability and capacity for improvement. Potential applicants should be prepared to critically assess the overall strength of their application and are more than welcome to make an appointment with an advisor for help with this process.
