Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence - a nonprofit scientific society devoted to advancing the scientific understanding of the mechanisms underlying thought and intelligent behavior and their embodiment in machines.

Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) - world's largest educational and scientific computing society, delivers resources that advance computing as a science and a profession. Their website includes links to interviews with ACM Award winners, information about ACM's public policy work, and career informationSpecial Interest Groups (SIGs) include Artificial Intelligence; Bioinformatics; Embedded Systems; Computer-Human Interaction; Mobility of Systems, Users, Data and Computing; and Simulation & Modeling, to name just a few.

Association for Symbolic Logic (ASL) - an international organization supporting research and critical studies in logic. Its primary function is to provide an effective forum for the presentation, publication, and critical discussion of scholarly work in this area of inquiry.

Cognitive Science Society - The CSS brings together researchers from many fields who hold a common goal: understanding the nature of the human mind. The Society promotes scientific interchange among researchers in disciplines comprising the field of Cognitive Science, including Artificial Intelligence, Linguistics, Anthropology, Psychology, Neuroscience, Philosophy, and Education.

Cognitive Neuroscience Society is focused on the physiological aspects of cognition. Lots of links to medically oriented topics.

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) - There are more than 425,000 IEEE members in over 160 countries around the world. IEEE members are engineers, scientists, and allied professionals whose technical interests are rooted in electrical and computer sciences, engineering, and related disciplines.  Includes a helpful Education and Careers section.

IEEE Computer Society - the world's leading organization of computing professionals. Founded in 1946, and the largest of the 39 societies of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the CS is dedicated to advancing the theory and application of computer and information-processing technology.

National Science Foundation (NSF) 

Computing Research Association (CRA) - an association of more than 200 North American academic departments of computer science, computer engineering, and related fields; laboratories and centers in industry, government, and academia engaging in basic computing research; and affiliated professional societies.

Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) - mission is to build cooperation between mathematics and the worlds of science and technology through our publications, research, and community.
