Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) - There are more than 425,000 IEEE members in over 160 countries around the world. IEEE members are engineers, scientists, and allied professionals whose technical interests are rooted in electrical and computer sciences, engineering, and related disciplines.  IEEE is a leading authority on areas ranging from aerospace systems, computers and telecommunications to biomedical engineering, electric power and consumer electronics among others.  Includes a helpful Education and Careers section.

Association for Computing Machinery - including a sub-group, SIGBED, specific to embedded systems.

Association of Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) - the world's largest organization devoted exclusively to advancing unmanned systems. The Association's membership of 6,000 individuals and 1,500 companies from 55 countries is the only organization to bring together such a large number and broad range of global representatives of industry, government and academia with an interest in unmanned systems.

PICMG - a consortium of over 450 companies who collaboratively develop open specifications for high performance telecommunications and industrial computing applications. The members of the consortium have a long history of developing leading edge products for these industries.

VITA - an incorporated, non-profit organization of vendors and users having a common market interest in real-time, modular embedded computing systems. Accredited as an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) developer and a submitter of Industry Trade Agreements to the IEC, the VITA Standards Organization provides its members with the ability to develop and to promote open technology standards.
