|Thomas Calder is a sophomore in the College from Downingtown, PA studying Health & Societies. He had the pleasure of travelling to Marion, SC on an ASB trip this past year and is thrilled to be site leading in spring 2018! He is also apart of PAB's board, overseeing outreach.|
Eric Shan is a sophomore from Acton, MA studying Biophysics. Last year, he went on his first ASB trip to Hendersonville, NC, where he satisfied his obsession with southern cuisine. His favorite thing about PAB is the wonderful, thoughtful, supportive, and fun community! As a site leader, he hopes to teach others about social justice and help create an experience as wonderful as his. He is also involved on PABoard as the Finance Coordinator. Eric aspires to compete in an eating competition some day and has a strong mistrust of birds.
Jenny Wang is a junior studying Biology & Health and Societies. She's from Rye, New York (yes, the bread) but grew up in China and the Midwest. She fell in love with PAB after an incredibly eye-opening trip to Lynchburg, Virginia. This exposure to social justice issues inspired Jenny to take various public health classes at Penn and participate in community services projects in West Philadelphia. Jenny's thrilled be a site leader this year and can't wait to meet various kinds of people and engage in their interests. In her free time, Jenny likes to work (chill) in her lab where she studies prosocial behaviors and enjoy nature with people (and preferably also with food). She's especially into Chinese historical dramas, tries very hard to stay updated on celebrity news, and is always on the search for more interesting meal prep ideas.
Zoe Stern is a senior from Riverdale, NY studying History. She participated in ASB her sophomore year on the Charlotte, North Carolina trip (Char was lit). Zoe's favorite parts about PAB are all the incredible and inspiring people she has met through the organization. In her free time, Zoe enjoys Wawa, running, and laughing.
|Sarah Jacobs is a junior from Hauppauge, NY studying Health and Societies. She participated in Austin 2017 (Hook'em!) and is excited to see where her adventures as a site leader take her! Sarah is also involved in Penn Ivy Council, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and her sorority Zeta Tau Alpha. You can often find her taking long walks to the Van Pelt Basement, eating mac and cheese, watching trash reality tv, or laying by the Schuylkill reading a book whilst pretending she's at the beach.|
Mira Nagarajan is a senior from New York, NY studying Political Science and Finance. After seeing all of her friends go on Penn Alternative Breaks trips and fall in love with the community, she finally decided to take the plunge and participated in the ASB trip to Boone, NC in 2017. It was the best decision she has ever made, and that's why she decided to be a site leader this year! Outside of PAB, Mira can be found not walking on Locust, playing with Maddie's cat, or at Green Line Cafe (location varies). A fun fact about her is that she can name and identify most dog breeds although she has never owned a dog in her life.
Zoe Colbert is a junior in the college studying Cognitive Science and minoring in Computer Science. Originally from the suburbs of Philadelphia, she is currently studying abroad in Lyon, France. While abroad she hopes to improve her French, visit other European cities, and eat her body weight in bread and baked goods. Last Spring Break Zoe travelled to Marion, South Carolina where she worked with the most beautiful and amazing group of people to build houses through Habitat for Humanity. While she got last place in the hammering competition, she learned how to spackle, create good lines, and paint doors. On campus you can find her registering people to vote, listening to music, and pretending to clean her apartment. Zoe can't wait to lead a trip this Spring and to meet even more inspiring people!
Meghana Reddy is a Senior from Syosset, NY, majoring in Health and Societies. She had a blast on her 2015 ASB trip to Atlanta, Georgia, where she learned about the complexities of urban poverty and homelessness. She can't wait to site lead this year's AWB and engage in a whole new adventure! During her free time, she loves to explore Philly, run by Schuylkill river, and go to taco Tuesday (or any day...) at Distrito!
Nikki Lin is a junior from New Rochelle, NY studying History and Political Science, and minoring in Urban Education. Nikki wanted to be a Site Leader so she could help build the ASB community which was so enjoyable for her this past year. On her ASB trip to learn about sustainable farming, she loved everything from car singalongs to shaving bark off trees with a machete. Everyone was down to earth and fun, and Nikki found it refreshing.
Gabriela Blood is a junior from Franklin, MA studying Health Care Management and Risk Management. She went to Charlotte, NC through ASB in 2017 where she built a roof and served as Co-Creative Director/Choreographer of her group's music video, "CharLIT".Outside of PAB, Gabbie enjoys crafting, taking long walks to Trader Joes, and helping students cope with the frustrations of AirPennNet as an IT Manager in Rodin.
Lucy Chu is a senior from Fairfax, VA studying biochemistry. She fell in love with the PAB program during the Habitat for Humanity trip to Durham in 2017, where she learned about the social justice issues affecting housing inequality and improved her hammer-wielding skills. Her favorite aspect of the program is the community built within the trip group through nightly discussions and never-ending car ride and mealtime antics, and she hopes to spread this spirit to this year's new members. Most of her time on campus is spent on biomedical research and tutoring, but don't be surprised to find her wandering in downtown Philadelphia for street art and the perfect sandwich. She is more than excited to lead a PAB trip this coming spring!

She is beyond excited to be returning to PAB once again and can't wait to meet her group!
Shawn is a senior from Manalapan, New Jersey, studying bioengineering and public policy. He participated in the 2017 ASB trip to Hendersonville, where he learned how to roof houses and became a pro at using a nail gun. He is excited to help future ASB participants to find an amazing community and collaborate with great organizations outside of Penn. Outside of PAB, Shawn is involved in improving academic policy with the Student Committee on Undergraduate Education and likes to spend his free time eating froyo at Kiwi and exploring new museums.
Jamie Gobreski is a junior majoring in Urban Studies and minoring in Spanish. Born and raised in Philadelphia, she decided to finally get out of the city for a bit and is studying in Buenos Aires, Argentina this semester. She participated in ASB Austin 2017 and had such a fantastic time exploring the city, working with the Workers' Defense Project, and making amazing friends that she came back for more. Jamie loves roasted cauliflower, popcorn, olive oil and coffee, and her most updated social media account is goodreads. In her spare time she loves getting to know different cities, going to concerts and curating weirdly niche playlists (don't get her started on her 13 hour French Indie Pop playlist). Jamie can't wait to site lead and get more music recommendations, learn from the work, and get to know more beautiful souls!
Marianna Olave is a Senior from Miami, FL studying Cognitive Science and Chemistry in the College. She gained new appreciation for volunteer work after her 2016 ASB trip to the Atlanta Community Foodbank. This year she will lead a trip in the Spring to continue PAB's mission of social justice, community involvement, and self-growth. As a leader, she hopes to encourage others to try new things, go beyond their comfort zone, and create the same sense of community she felt during ASB. On any given day, Mari can be spotted studying in Fisher, exploring the city, or eating ice cream on her couch.
James Kelemen is a Junior from Cleveland, OH majoring in Cognitive Science and minoring in Consumer Psychology and Computer Science. Last winter break, he travelled to Harlan, KY to learn about the consequences of coal mining on the environment and on the individuals living in Appalachia. Along the way, he helped to build warm homes for pups like Bella. Outside of PAB, most of his free time is spent sulking over Cleveland sports and talking about LeBron James.
He would like to thank his site leaders, Moriah and Rachel, for building such a strong community on his trip and for inspiring him to become a site leader this year; he is looking forward to the experience!
