On June 14th, 2014, Civic House Director, David Grossman, and 30 Penn Alumni and families gathered for a service project at El Nido Family Centers in LA adding a new coat of paint and a brand new mural for this 89 year old organization. For over 90 years, El Nido Family Centers (translation: the nest) has served children and families in Los Angeles with programs in child abuse prevention, youth development, parent education, gang prevention and many more. Among the alumni was Jake Gutman, a recent graduate of the Civic Scholars Program at Civic House.
