Services

The Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) helps individuals with academic potential, at no cost, to become enrolled in the college of their choice. EOC works specifically with people who have a low income and who are first generation, meaning neither parent graduated from a four-year college. 

Free Services Provided

SCHOOL AND COLLEGE ENTRY ASSISTANCE

  • Information and placement in GED, High School Completion, and Adult Basic Education classes
  • Information and assistance with community college and four-year universities

COLLEGE APPLICATIONS ASSISTANCE

  • Assistance completing admission applications
  • Individual counseling to identify and select a college or university
  • Assistance transferring from a community college to a four year university
  • Information about in-state and out-of-state programs and colleges

FINANCIAL AID ASSISTANCE

  • Information on state and federal financial aid programs
  • Assistance with the application for financial aid (FAFSA)
  • Financial literacy training
  • Assistance in scholarship searches

CAREER COUNSELING AND ASSESSMENT

  • Help in making decisions about careers and school
  • Career exploration assessment

ACADEMIC ADVISING

  • Assistance with planning and selecting college courses
  • Assistance with concerns affecting your educational progress

DEFAULTED STUDENT LOAN ASSISTANCE

  • Provide assistance regarding defaulted student loans

WORKSHOPS AND COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY COURSEWORK

  • Access to technology coursework to increase college readiness

REFERRALS

  • Provide referrals to local agencies with services to assist non-traditional students
