Only students who place in Math 200 may take Science 200 or 300. Students who enroll in this class will understand concepts of physics, chemistry, biology and earth science. Instruction is supplemented by hands-on experience, and with extensive hardware and video resources of a university laboratory. A related 300-word composition will be due at the end of the term.
Students who want to supplement the Science 200 instruction can take a 300 level. This independent study program will follow a quantitative investigation of mechanics. It will start with a mathematical treatment of accelerated motion and move on to momentum and energy conservation. There will be a much stronger emphasis on problem solving than in the Science 200 course.
