Emily Sachs Dance Benefit 2020
The Dance Arts Council is thrilled to celebrate the 24th Annual Emily Sachs Dance Benefit! This performance, featuring the 12 DAC groups, honors the memory of Emily Rachel Sachs, a Penn student who passed away from asthma complications in 1995. While at Penn, Emily was a member of Arts House Dance Company and a vibrant member of the dance community.
This year all proceeds will benefit the Community Asthma Prevention Program Plus (CAPP+). CAPP+ aims to reduce the impact of unhealthy housing on pediatric asthma outcomes in West Philadelphia neighborhoods. By combining home repairs with help from community health workers, CAPP+ provides asthma education and environmental remediation. They partner with the Philadelphia Housing Department Corp to conduct the home repairs and also use minority- and women-owned business enterprises whenever possible. The show will feature African Rhythms, Arts House Dance Company, Dhamaka, Onda Latina, Pan-Asian Dance Troupe, Penn Dance Company, PENNaach, Soundworks Tap Factory, Sparks Dance Company, Strictly Funk, West Philly Swingers and Yalla. We are also excited to announce a guest performance by the Penn Counterparts.
