Meet Me at Dawn is the story of two women who find themselves stranded at sea after a tragic and violent boating accident. As the characters attempt to find their way back home to safety, one of the two – Robyn - begins to realize that this is not reality, remembering that the boating accident already occurred, and remembering what actually happened: her partner Helen died. And so what is ‘true’ separates from what is being ‘experienced.’ How can you tell someone they are dead when they are standing right in front of you? As more realizations hit, Robyn remembers a conversation with a woman in her driveway where she was given a wish. ‘One more day’. As they realize that’s what this is, the question shifts again: how do you spend what you know is your last bit of time with the person you love? Written by an artist in residence at a hospice center, Meet Me at Dawn manages to be soft and uplifting in the face of death. Full of mysticism and warmth, this 80 minute play takes the audience through fear, loss, love, and finally peace.
