2020 - 2021 Williams Cafe Director Team

ABOUT

Williams Café is an entirely student run café at the University of Pennsylvania. It is one of the longest running agencies in Penn Student Agencies. Independent of the school's dining plan, Wilcaf provides products and services that are not only exclusive to its location, but cater to Penn's diverse student body.

Williams Café offers coffee drinks, bagels, pastries, sandwiches, and a variety of other products to University of Pennsylvania students and staff. We are located on the first floor of Williams Hall adjacent to the Silfen Study Center. Hours of operation are Monday to Thursday from 8:30am to 6:30pm and Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm. The café is closed during University holidays and breaks.


LEADERSHIP ROLES

Each director has their own responsibilies that are paramount to the overall operations of the buisness. These roles are filled internally, as PSA strives to promote growth and promotion opportunites for all of its students. Executive Director

The Williams Café Executive Director supports the agency by supervising the overall function of the café, monitoring revenue and expenses, and hiring and training new employees.

Perferred Experience

  • At least one semester of experience working in the café.
  • Must be reliable, organized, responsible, able to delegate work, able to work under pressure, and a strong leader.
  • Previous customer service and food service experience is a plus.

Key Acquired Skills

  • Leadership: developed through guiding the employees and business toward a common goal.
  • Time Management: gained through learning how to accomplish academic and director responsibilities in a timely and organized manager for the duration of your employment.
  • Fiscal Management: gained through tracking and building revenue, following a budget, and making responsible spending decisions.
  • Entrprenuership

Purchasing Director

The Williams Café Director of Purchasing supports the agency by ordering products to be sold in the café, monitoring revenue and expenses, tracking inventory, and polling trends in the products that the customers are buying.

Perferred Experience

  • At least one semester of experience working in the café.
  • Must be reliable, organized, responsible, reliable, able to delegate work, and able to take initiative.
  • Previous customer service and food service experience is a plus.

    Williams Cafe Barista 

    The Williams Café Barista supports the agency by serving coffee and snacks to faculty and students, operating the café during business hours in an efficient manner, keeping the café clean, and providing customers with excellent customer service.

    With each additional year of employment, Williams Cafe employees become eligable for promotion opportunites, raises, and bonuses. Additional positions include Shift Supervisors and Managers.
